EUR 1 billion trade deficit for Poland in January: stats office

Poland had a foreign trade deficit of around EUR 1 billion in January, the country’s statistics office has reported.

Poland’s exports in the first month of this year totalled EUR 28.3 billion, while imports were worth EUR 29.2 billion, the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said on Friday.

It added that Poland's exports in January decreased by 2.8 percent in euro terms at current prices compared with the first month of 2024, while imports grew by 6 percent year on year.

Poland’s largest export markets in January were Germany, France and the Czech Republic, data showed.

Germany was also the country's largest import market, followed by China and the United States, data showed.

Poland ended 2024 with a foreign trade surplus of around EUR 700 million, according to Statistics Poland.
