“We are talking about a colossal contract,” Tomczyk told reporters at the signing ceremony, specifying that 18,000 tons of TNT will be delivered over three years.

Between 2027 and 2029, state-owned Nitro-Chem—part of Poland’s PGZ defence group—will supply TNT to Paramount Enterprises International, which will in turn use it for U.S. government weapon programs, PGZ spokesperson Jacek Matuszak told Reuters.

The new deal surpasses two earlier contracts signed in 2023 and 2024 for deliveries of TNT used by the U.S. to fill artillery shells and aerial bombs. Matuszak noted Nitro-Chem will not have to expand production lines or add staff.

“We can fulfill this order with our current workforce and existing infrastructure,” he said.

European leader in TNT

Nitro-Chem bills itself as Europe’s largest TNT producer—and one of the world’s biggest—according to its corporate website.

The group’s products have already supported the production of 155mm ammunition for the U.S. armed forces under previous contracts.
