There were around 804,500 people without jobs across the nation at the end of April, down from 831,300 a month earlier, according to the government.

The state-run Statistics Poland agency (GUS) reported last month that the Polish jobless rate had dropped to 5.3 percent in March, from 5.4 percent in February.

Meanwhile, the European Union's Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, estimated this month that unemployment in Poland stood at 2.7 percent in March, marking the second-lowest rate in the 27-nation bloc.
