Thanks to northwestern Poland's new Trzebusz well, set on a 700 million cubic meters deposit, domestic energy company ORLEN has increased the region's total recoverable reserve to 2.3 billion cubic meters.

The Trzebusz field is located in Poland's western coastal belt, adjacent to other existing natural gas deposits: Gorzysław and Dargosław. According to ORLEN, their new well set on a 700 million cubic meters deposit will allow for annual production of up to 30 million cubic meters of natural gas - optimising use of available resources and increasing domestic production.

"We have set ourselves a very ambitious goal - by 2030, we want to increase annual gas production from domestic fields to 4 billion cubic meters. This requires investments that are crucial for the energy transition, for the availability of a resource essential for many industries, and for Poland's energy security"

- said Wiesław Prugar, Member of the ORLEN Management Board for the Upstream Segment, emphasizing that increasing natural gas production is a key element of the company's strategy.

The discovery of new resources in the Trzebusz field is the result of cooperation between ORLEN Group's Polish companies operating in the Upstream Segment. Seismic surveys were conducted by Geofizyka Toruń, and an exploratory well was drilled by Exalo Drilling.

Encouraged by its successes so far - ORLEN is already planning further drilling in the coastal region. According to the company's preliminary estimates, the resources available in this area might still double, increasing to as much as 5 billion cubic meters.

To put this in perspective - in 2024, gas production from all domestic deposits in Poland amounted to approximately 3.3 billion cubic meters.
