Polish retail sales up 4.8% y/y in July: stats office

Retail sales in Poland rose by 4.8% year-on-year in July 2025, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported on Monday.

The strongest growth was recorded in the "Furniture, radio, TV and household appliances" cagegory, which saw a 15.3% increase, according to the latest GUS release.

Commenting on the figures, Poland's Minister of Finance and Economy, Andrzej Domański, said: "These are another set of strong economic data. Retail sales in July rose 4.8%, well above analysts's expectations."

"Optimism is growing, with significant increases in purchases of durable goods. Inflation is falling, wages and purchasing power are rising - the economy is accelerating," he added.

In the first half of 2025, total revenues of surveyed non-financial enterprises increased by 2.6% year-on-year, while the total costs of generating those revenues fell by 2.4% compared with the same period last year.

The turnover of units covered by the 2023 structural business statistics survey exceeded PLN 8.5 trillion, up 3.8% from 2022.
