Polish inflation at 2.9% in September: flash estimate

Inflation in Poland stood at 2.9 percent in year-on-year terms in September, the country’s statistics office said in a flash estimate on Tuesday.

The figure was 0.1 percentage point lower than forecast by economists polled by Poland’s PAP news agency.

In Augustthe prices of consumer goods and services in Poland were also 2.9 percent higher than in the same month a year earlier, according to the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency.

In JulyPoland's consumer price index stood at 3.1 percent, Statistics Poland reported.

The statistics office said earlier this year it had revised its system of weights used for calculating the consumer price index in 2025.

Next year, Polish inflation is expected to average 3.1 percent, under the country's budget adopted by the government in August.

The Polish central bank predicted in its latest Inflation Report, released on July 4, that inflation would average 3.9 percent in 2025, followed by 3.1 percent in 2026 and 2.4 percent in 2027.
