Fire crews were dispatched to the scene, and the airport returned to normal operations shortly afterwards. According to broadcaster TVN24, the incident occurred late on Sunday, 28 December.
The Warsaw municipal fire service said it received the alert at 11:08 p.m. local time, sending seven fire engines and a total of 24 firefighters to the airport.
“Our actions were limited to securing the site at the airport,” Captain Pawel Baran of the Warsaw City Fire Brigade told TVN24.
Chopin Airport spokesman Piotr Rudzki confirmed that approximately 80 people were evacuated. After smoke was cleared from the area, firefighters concluded their operations.
No injuries were reported, and airport operations resumed shortly afterwards.
