The number of overnight stays in tourist accommodation in Poland increased by 7 percent in 2025 compared with the previous year.

That places the country second in the EU for tourism growth, behind only Malta, which recorded a 10 percent rise.

The figures published by the statistics agency underline a broader recovery in European travel.

Across the EU as a whole, tourists spent 3.08 billion nights in hotels and other accommodation in 2025 – up 2 percent year on year, or around 61.5 million additional nights.

Foreign visitors drive growth in Europe

According to Eurostat, growth across the European Union was driven mainly by international travel.

Foreign visitors accounted for the larger share of the increase in overnight stays, spending an additional 46.1 million nights compared with the previous year, bringing the total to 1.5 billion.

Domestic tourism also continued to grow, though at a slower pace, with an increase of 15.4 million nights to a total of 1.6 billion.

Overall, the balance between domestic and international tourism across the EU was almost even, with foreign visitors responsible for 49 percent of overnight stays and domestic travellers for the remaining 51 percent.

Hotels still dominate

Hotels and similar accommodation remained the most popular option, making up nearly two-thirds (63 percent) of all stays.

Holiday homes and short-term rentals accounted for almost a quarter (24 percent), while campsites represented the remaining 13 percent.
