Billed as one of the largest business events in Central Europe, the annual European Economic Congress in Katowice explores key economic challenges in Poland, Europe and the wider world.

This year's conference highlighs the need for cooperation in the face of global tensions, economic transformation and technological change, according to organizers.

They stress the importance of dialogue "that transcends divisions" in strategic areas.

The event, held under the motto "The Power of Dialogue," will feature nearly 220 panel discussions with hundreds of experts, state news agency PAP reported.

Expected participants include senior business executives from across Europe as well as Polish government officials.

Discussions will cover a range of topics, including energy security, defence investment, digital challenges and the concept of "local content."

The conference, now in its 18th year, runs through Friday.
