The figure came in better than expected by analysts, who had forecast a 2.5-percent increase in Polish industrial production last month, state news agency PAP reported.
In month-on-month terms, Polish industrial production in May was 0.8 percent lower than in April, the Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.
Meanwhile, the country's seasonally-adjusted industrial production went up by 4.4 percent in year-on-year terms in May, while rising 1.4 percent month on month, according to the state-run statistics office.
According to the European Union's Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, Poland's seasonally-adjusted industrial production had risen 2 percent in April compared with the same month in 2025.
