One in four Polish employees fear losing job amid virus crisis: study

One in four employees in Poland is afraid of losing their job due to the coronavirus pandemic, a study has found.

Meanwhile, half of those surveyed in the country by human resources firm Randstad said they were afraid their pay would be cut amid the virus crisis, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency has reported.

Additionally, 16 percent are worried the companies in which they are employed could go under as a result of the coronavirus lockdown, according to the study.

The IAR news agency cited Randstad as saying in a report that job insecurity among Polish employees was the highest since such surveys were begun 10 years ago.

Those working in the hotel and food service industries are the most afraid of layoffs, the study also found.

More than a quarter of companies in Poland have adopted a strategy of layoffs as a way of dealing with the coronavirus crisis, and almost half see a need for pay cuts, according to a study by the Polish Economic Institute.
