Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak told a news conference on Wednesday that the drones would be manufactured by a consortium of domestic producers between 2024 and 2027.
The unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) will be able to fly continuously for about three hours at a distance of up to 35 kilometres, Błaszczak said.
Along with the drones, the Polish army will be provided with a logistics and training package, including ground control stations and data terminals, he added.
Błaszczak told reporters that drones "are an important element of modern-day armed conflicts" and also have multiple uses in peacetime.
The new unmanned aerial systems (UASs) will be equipped with special electro-optical instruments to enable users to conduct remote reconnaissance missions, detect threats and coordinate response operations, he also said.
The contract for the delivery of the drones is with a consortium led by the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ) and including military aviation companies in the central city of Łódź and the north-central city of Bydgoszcz, reporters were told.
