Waldemar Buda made the announcement at a business conference at Warsaw’s National Stadium on Wednesday, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
“Some 1,200 Polish companies have expressed an interest in having a presence in Ukraine,” he told the conference.
“These companies represent industries such as food and agriculture, machinery and equipment, construction, as well the automotive, cosmetics and medical sectors,” he added.
Barriers and incentives
The Warsaw conference explored barriers to doing business in Ukraine, as well as public assistance available to companies that resume economic ties with Poland's eastern neighbour, officials said.
“It’s the first conference in Poland and Europe to bring together companies interested in rebuilding and doing trade with Ukraine,” Buda told reporters.
He added that bilateral Polish-Ukrainian trade was "growing notably after the collapse" caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February.
Buda told the conference that “it is not certain exactly when the reconstruction of Ukraine will begin and how dynamic it will be” in the initial stages.
He announced that Polish and Ukrainian government officials would meet in the southeastern Polish city of Rzeszów on September 22 to discuss the conclusions of the Warsaw conference.
Wednesday was day 189 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
