The reading reported by the Statistics Poland (GUS) agency on Tuesday was higher than an earlier estimate of 4.8 percent by the country's labour ministry.
There were around 801,700 people without jobs across the nation at the end of September, compared with 806,900 a month earlier, according to Statistics Poland.
The state-run statistics office has revised upward its estimates of Poland's monthly jobless figures since December last year, state news agency PAP reported.
According to the European Union’s Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, unemployment in Poland was a modest 2.6 percent in August, unchanged from July and the second-lowest rate in the 27-nation bloc.
