Employment, wages up in Polish firms y/y in November: stats office

Employment in Polish companies rose by 2.3 percent in November on average in year-on-year terms, the country’s statistics office reported on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, average wages in Poland's corporate sector in November increased by 13.9 percent compared with the same month a year earlier, the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.

The average gross Polish monthly wage last month was PLN 6,857.96 (EUR 1,465, USD 1,557), according to the statistical office.

The figures are for companies with more than nine employees.

Poland’s labour ministry this month estimated that the country's unemployment rate held steady at 5.1 percent in November, unchanged from October.

There were around 801,500 people without jobs across the nation at the end of November, down by 97,300 from a year earlier, according to the government.
