The new plant was officially opened at a ceremony on Wednesday, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
Guests included Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, who said that PepsiCo was "another international, world-renowned investor that has put its trust in Poland.”
The prime minister added that foreign direct investment in Poland exceeded PLN 110 billion (EUR 24.3 billion) last year.
He told reporters: “This is a record-breaking figure ... a magnificent achievement and proof of the trust that foreign investors are placing in our economy and our future.”
EUR 300 mln snack factory with up to 600 jobs
Morawiecki stated: “We are celebrating another success for Polish-American cooperation, the launch of a new, super-modern snack plant here, near the city of Wrocław. I am also happy because this project strengthens our position internationally.”
He added: “The new plant will initially create 450 new jobs, and eventually over 600. It will also spark a whole new ecosystem around the town of Środa Śląska that will benefit everyone, including the investor and local farmers.”
He told those gathered that the new factory had been created thanks to “consistent efforts to attract foreign investors from around the globe.”
The prime minister hailed PepsiCo’s new snack plant as “a super-modern state-of-the-art project in terms of environmental issues, technology and the labour market.”
PepsiCo Europe CEO Silviu Popovici said: “Poland is a strategic market with a significant development potential, where we have been investing for over 30 years. The opening of this new, environmentally sustainable snack facility is a major milestone for PepsiCo in Europe.”
The plant will export its products to more than 20 European countries, the PAP news agency reported.
