The Czech Republic boasted the lowest jobless rate in the bloc in April, at 2.7 percent, while Malta trailed Poland in third place, with 3.1 percent, according to the Eurostat agency.
Meanwhile, Spain had the highest seasonally-adjusted jobless rate in the EU, at 11.7 percent, and Greek unemployment was the second-highest at 10.8 percent, according to the latest available data.
Eurostat reported that the EU average for April was 6 percent, unchanged from March and stable compared with April 2023.
Poland's statistics office (GUS), which uses a different methodology, reported last month that the Polish jobless rate dropped to 5.1 percent in April, from 5.3 percent in March.
