Germany's central role in intra-EU freight transport is evident, with the highest volume of goods transported between Germany and the Netherlands. Poland ranks second in the list of the Top 15 country-to-country flows in intra-EU road freight transport for 2023, handling 20% of all cargo across the continent.

Eurostat reports that “When examining the top intra-EU freight transport flows, the highest volume of goods was transported between Germany and the Netherlands, totaling 83.3 million tonnes. The freight flow between Germany and Poland amounted to 69.2 million tonnes, while the flow between Belgium and France reached 53.8 million tonnes,” according to the publication “Decrease in Road Freight Transport in 2023,” dated July 31, 2024.

According to PAP, this underscores Poland's solidified position as a major player in European road transport.

Germany's prominence is highlighted by its involvement in more than half of the top 15 intra-EU freight routes, demonstrating its pivotal role as both an origin and destination country.

Poland's strong partnership with Germany enhances its own standing, showcasing its importance in facilitating cross-border trade within the EU.

Although the highest volume of goods was transported between Germany and the Netherlands, Poland's significant freight flow underscores its competitive role in the European transport sector.
