Polish is increasingly popular among foreigners, with growing interest in the language, culture, history, and customs of Poland.
This year’s 34th edition of the Summer School includes both in-person and online courses, attracting participants from neighboring countries like Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Ukraine, as well as from France, the Netherlands, Scandinavian countries, and more distant locations such as Vietnam, Brazil, Morocco, China, Peru, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan.
The program will start on August 2 with the annual conference of the National Agency for Academic Exchange, featuring teachers from foreign universities.
From August 12 to 18, a Week of Culture and Tradition will take place, with workshops on handicrafts and voice training in Katowice and Cieszyn.
On August 15, participants will take a Polish language exam, followed by an Evening of Cultures and Traditions, where they will showcase their countries, languages, customs, and traditions through music, art, and cuisine. The event will conclude with the Translation Tournament on August 23.
During the summer courses, participants will translate a poem into their native languages and present their translations at a formal event. These will be published in a booklet by the School of Polish Language and Culture at the University of Silesia.
