The first ASF 2024/36 cases in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie region in ten years were identified on Thursday in the village Kałdus and on Sunday in Starogród, with the farms located about 2 km apart.

The affected areas have been designated as restricted and at-risk zones. An urgent meeting of the Provincial Crisis Management Team was convened, and the governor urged farmers to adhere to biosecurity measures.

Previously, ASF was found in a wild boar in the northern part of the region, raising concerns about the possible deliberate transport of infected boars. Restrictions now include bans on fairs and outdoor events in the affected zones.

Information about the detection of an ASF outbreak in Poland was shared on social media by, among others, Janusz Piechociński, President of the Poland-Asia Chamber of Commerce, former Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Economy from 2012 to 2015.
