There were around 773,700 people without jobs across the nation at the end of August, up by 7,300 from a month earlier, according to the government.
The state-run Statistics Poland agency (GUS) reported last month that the Polish jobless rate had inched up to 5 percent in July, from 4.9 percent in June.
Meanwhile, the European Union’s Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, estimated last month that unemployment in Poland stood at 2.9 percent in July, marking the second-lowest rate in the 27-nation bloc.
