According to Puls Biznesu, Poland is experiencing a decrease in grocery stores selling food items, meat, and alcohol, yet the number of bakeries is on the rise. Statistics show that while the overall number of stores has fallen in the first half of 2024, bakeries are an exception.
Data from Dun & Bradstreet Poland indicates that there has been a decline in all types of stores in Poland, except for bakeries.
The steepest drop was observed in butcher shops, which decreased by 1.3%.
Compared to the same period last year, there are currently 0.7% fewer liquor stores and 0.2% fewer greengrocers. However, around 1,200 fish markets remain operational across the country.
It is clear that Poles have a strong preference for fresh bread, frequently visiting bakeries for loaves, rolls, and other baked goods.
In 2024, there are over 3,200 bakeries in Poland, reflecting an increase of about 0.9% from the previous year.
