The Czech Republic boasted the lowest jobless rate in the bloc in August, at 2.6 percent, while Malta trailed Poland in third place, with 3 percent, according to the Eurostat agency.
Meanwhile, Spain had the highest seasonally-adjusted jobless rate in the EU, at 11.3 percent, and Greek unemployment was the second-highest at 9.5 percent, according to the latest available data.
Eurostat reported that the EU average for August was 5.9 percent, down from 6 percent in July and stable compared with August 2023.
Poland's statistics office (GUS), which uses a different methodology, reported last month that the Polish jobless rate held steady at 5 percent in August, unchanged from July.
