The Czech Republic boasted the lowest jobless rate in the bloc in September, at 2.8 percent, while Malta trailed Poland in third place, with 3 percent, according to the Eurostat agency.
Meanwhile, Spain had the highest seasonally-adjusted jobless rate in the EU, at 11.2 percent, and Greek unemployment was the second-highest at 9.3 percent, according to the latest available data.
Eurostat reported that the EU average for September was 5.9 percent, stable compared with August and down from 6.1 percent in September 2023.
Poland's statistics office (GUS), which uses a different methodology, reported last month that the Polish jobless rate held steady at 5 percent in September, unchanged from August.
