According to Eurostat, Poland accounts for a remarkable 88% of Europe’s pumpkin market, producing about 358,200 tonnes annually.
These versatile pumpkins are used in a range of sweet and savory dishes.
Poland significantly outpaces other major producers, including France (212,960 tonnes), Spain (140,410 tonnes), Germany (101,730 tonnes), and Portugal (95,880 tonnes), based on the latest 2023 data.
These statistics include not only pumpkins but also other gourds, like squash, gourds, and certain types of zucchini.
Although the past year was challenging for pumpkin growers, an exceptionally large specimen was successfully cultivated by a grower in Chwałowice, a small town in western Poland near the German border.
