In 354 out of 380 districts in Poland, men have higher wages than women, with women earning slightly more in just 26 areas, mostly in the poorer eastern regions.
However, when considering employees' place of residence, men still earn more in most districts, with a significant part of the wage gap resulting from the concentration of large companies in major cities like Warsaw, Kraków, and Poznań.

In May 2024, the highest median wage was in the Information and Communication sector at 10,368 PLN (2385.53 EUR or 2497,95 USD), where men out-earned women in most sectors.
Nonetheless, in two sectors, Construction and Administrative and Support Service Activities, women earned more than men - 32.5% and 4.7% more, respectively.
The overall wage gap could be reduced with the implementation of the EU directive on pay equality, which Poland must adopt by 2026.
Polish men still earn more than women simply because of their gender. Despite women being better educated, they earn 513 PLN (over 123 USD or 118 EUR) less than men, even on the same positions (photo: Kaboompics.com, pexels.com/CC0)
