The politician confirmed that the equipment is already partially paid for and will be sent in the coming weeks or months.
Gawkowski emphasized the crucial role of Starlink satellite connectivity for both civilian and military security, stating that Poland is currently maintaining Ukraine’s internet access.
“Starlinks provide internet, security in civilian and military areas. Thanks to them, the front holds,” he said.
Poland’s support for Starlink strengthens Ukraine’s security
Poland has been one of Ukraine’s main supporters in securing reliable satellite internet, with Gawkowski describing it as “the biggest donor to Ukraine’s security in Europe.”
The Starlink devices, mobile routers providing satellite internet, are produced by a company owned by American billionaire Elon Musk, who now heads the newly established U.S. Department of Government Efficiency.
Poland’s key role in funding Ukraine’s Starlink network
The Polish state news agency PAP, citing TVN24, reports that around 85% of the 20,000 Starlink terminals in Ukraine have been fully or partially funded by external sources, including the governments of the U.S., the U.K., and Poland.
In addition to supplying equipment, Poland also provides ongoing financial support to maintain these systems, ensuring continuous connectivity for Ukraine.
Gawkowski stressed the importance of Poland’s contribution, noting, “It’s worth reminding Ukrainian authorities where we stand and how much we are doing.”
