Over 200,000 new homes built in Poland in 2024: stats office

Builders completed 200,400 new homes in Poland last year, marking a 9.4-percent drop from a year earlier, the country’s statistics office has reported in an updated estimate.

Meanwhile, the number of housing starts throughout 2024, at 233,800, was 23.7 percent higher than in 2023, the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.

It added that developers constructed 62.3 percent of all newly delivered dwellings in 2024, while individual investors were responsible for 34.8 percent of housing completions.

The average usable area of ​​a newly completed housing unit was 89.1 square metres, with single-family homes averaging 130 square metres and apartment buildings averaging 51.5 square metres, the state-run statistics agency also reported last week.

In 2023, Polish builders completed around 220,400 new homes, a decrease of 7.6 percent from 2022, according to Statistics Poland.
