The news anchor, who has been placed in three-month pre-trial detention, has been suspended from his professional duties, TVN’s press office announced.
“As TVN Warner Bros. Discovery, we place strong emphasis on compliance with applicable laws by all employees. In light of the charges brought against our employee, we made the immediate decision to suspend him from his duties until the matter is clarified,” the statement said, as quoted by Press Magazine.
The case is part of a broader investigation involving several suspects, including Zbigniew M., the former national police chief who remains in custody.
He faces charges related to tax and economic crimes, as well as obstructing and interfering with investigations. Another suspect is Rafał P., a board member at Orlen Ochrona, a subsidiary of the state-run Orlen Group.
Prosecutor Karolina Stocka-Mycek, spokesperson for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Wrocław, confirmed the journalist’s involvement to the Polish state news agency PAP, but said the prosecution would not be releasing further details at this stage.
The news of Mariusz W.'s detention was first reported by Polish outlet Wp.pl.
