On February 13, 1946 the UN launched its own broadcast known as the United Nations Radio. The date was later chosen by UNESCO to celebrate the world radio day.
This year, the organization calls on all radio stations to celebrate the eleventh edition of World Radio Day, under the theme "Radio and Trust".
According to UNESCO, radio remains one of "the most trusted and widely used media", building on more than a century of its history, and bridging between "traditional and state-of-the art technologies", offering a variety of content through different devices and formats.
