Landmarks in Warsaw, such as the parliament building, followed the lead of famous sights worldwide, including the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, by switching off their illuminations.
Millions of individuals in over 190 countries also demonstrated their care for the planet, as they turned off non-essential lights and electrical appliances for an hour on Saturday evening.
The Earth Hour event, organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), promotes the idea of individuals, communities, households, and businesses turning off non-essential lights for an hour from 8:30 to 9:30 pm local time on the last Saturday of March every year.
