The 7th edition of Polish Heritage Days has opened in the United Kingdom. The idea of this annual event, which is run under the patronage of the Polish Embassy in London, is to promote and celebrate Polish culture. The festival is also an opportunity to celebrate the Polish Flag Day and Polish Diaspora Day on May 2 and Poland’s Constitution Day, the anniversary of proclaiming the nation’s modern codified constitution in 1791, on May 3.

In this year's edition, nearly 100 events will take place in over 60 cities across the UK. One of the central themes of this year’s Polish Heritage Days is the celebration of Anglo-Polish cooperation in breaking the code of the German Enigma machines, marking 80 years since Polish codebreakers came to Britain.

This month, Polish cryptologists' contributions to the Allied victory in World War II will be highlighted in exhibitions, film screenings, and competitions in London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Stratford-upon-Avon, Belfast, and Llanelli.

In addition, displays featuring photos of Polish airmen who fought in the Battle of Britain have been organized by the RAF Museum in Wrexham, the RAF Cosford Museum near Shrewsbury and Telford, and the RAF Ingham Heritage Centre in Fillingham, Lincolnshire.

The Polish Heritage Days events usually peak at the beginning of May, but because of King Charles III's coronation this year, most will take place after May 6.
