Billed as “Europe’s biggest outdoor celebration of science,” Polish Radio’s Science Picnic is organised in partnership with Warsaw's Copernicus Science Centre (CNK), polskieradio.pl reported.

This year’s edition starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, giving the audience a chance to dig into science from every angle during a nine-hour, free-of-charge, open-air event, executives have said.

The 2023 Science Picnic is an opportunity to meet real scientists from Poland and abroad, attend presentations, shows and workshops, and learn while having fun, according to organisers.

The main theme this year is “scientific revolutions” and many of the picnic’s activities will be focused on showcasing various milestones in the development of science, officials said.

There will be presentations of the latest research, inventions and technologies; reenactments of classic experiments; and a do-it-yourself zone, according to an announcement.

The audience will have an opportunity to learn how to produce 2D and 3D maps of icebergs; meet a state-of-the art, AI-powered humanoid robot that can converse about every topic; and learn about how UV light can be turned into electricity, among other attractions.

In line with tradition, Polish Radio journalists will report live from the 2023 Science Picnic, officials said.

Polish Radio’s extensive coverage will begin next week with a host of preview programmes across all channels, polskieradio.pl website reported.
