Home completions down 0.2% in Poland in first eight months of 2023: stats office

Builders in Poland completed 0.2 percent fewer homes in the first eight months of this year than in the same period in 2022, the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) has reported.

Around 145,000 housing units were completed nationwide between the start of January and the end of August, the office said on Thursday.

It added that the number of housing starts during this time, at around 119,800 in total, was 19.5 percent lower than in the same period last year.

Meanwhile, overall output in Poland’s construction-and-assembly sector increased by 3.5 percent in August in year-on-year terms, while rising 7.4 percent month on month, the state-run statistics agency also reported.

Builders completed around 238,600 new homes in Poland last year, 1.7 percent more than in 2021, Statistics Poland estimated earlier this year.
