Poland’s Tatra mountains attract 1.7 mln tourists in summer 2023

More than 1.7 million tourists visited Poland’s southern Tatra mountains this summer, according to the Tatra National Park (TPN) officials.

The biggest number of holidaymakers flocked to the Tatras in August, as is tradition, Polish state news agency PAP reported on Friday. 

In all, 912,188 people visited the Tatra National Park last month, in addition to 819,760 tourists who trekked in the Tatras in July, officials said. 

This means that the Tatra National Park attracted some  1,732,000 people over the summer of 2023, the PAP news agency reported. 

So far, the biggest number of people, 1,909,500, visited the Tatras in the summer of 2021, reporters were told.  

This summer, the main tourist attraction was the Eye of the Sea Lake, visited by over 414,000 holidaymakers; the Kościeliska Valley attracted 227,600 people; and just over 195,000 tourists took the cable car to the summit of the 1,987-metre Kasprowy Wierch mountain, according to officials.

More and more tourists buy tickets to the Tatra National Park via its website or a special mobile app, the PAP news agency reported. 

So far in 2023, Poland’s southern Tatra mountains on the border with Slovakia have attracted 3,346,000 visitors, according to officials.
