Poles to spend 4.4% more on Christmas this year than last: study

Poles plan to spend 4.4 percent more on Christmas this year than last, according to a survey.

The study by the Minds&Roses company found that the average Polish family plans to fork out PLN 1,490 (EUR 345, USD 375) on gifts, food and other expenses this Christmas, up from PLN 1,427 last year.

Respondents said they would spend more on food than gifts during the festive season, PLN 607 vs. PLN 565 on average, state news agency PAP reported.

Meanwhile, travel expenses during the holidays are expected to reach PLN 318 on average, a drop of 7 percent from last year.

The survey, commissioned by the Polish Bank Association (ZBP)was carried out from November 9 to 15 on a sample of 1,000 adult respondents.
