The Bieszczady Border Guard Unit was thrown into a frenzy after their high-tech monitoring systems detected what was initially thought to be an "unusual crossing" at the Polish-Ukrainian border.

But, instead of the anticipated human trespassers, the guards were greeted by the sight of sheep serenely grazing after their stealthy border infiltration.

Border guard spokesman Piotr Zakielarz shared the woolly details of the operation: "The devices alerted on approaching figures to the border line. A flock of sheep was recognized on the monitoring screens."

In a twist that sounds straight out of a pastoral comedy, the guards, well-acquainted with both the terrain and its four-legged inhabitants, had to call in the owner to round up his adventurous flock. With the help of some persuasive shouting, the sheep eventually trotted back to Polish territory.

But here's the kicker – this wasn't the sheep's first brush with international law. "They were recidivists," Zakielarz revealed, noting that the same "team" had previously ventured close to the border, though they hadn't yet dared to cross.
