Szczepański's journey in the United Kingdom began as a carpenter, but his dedication to volunteering and community service has led him to this prestigious role.

Szczepański has also been an active volunteer, particularly with the Polish Family Association, which he leads. His commitment to community work includes playing a crucial role in helping Ukrainian refugees settle in Merton, providing support for them and their children.

In his inaugural council meeting on Wednesday, May 22, Szczepański delivered an inspiring speech. "I have lived in Merton since moving to the UK and have worked with many community groups, promoting cultural understanding and celebrating the rich diversity that makes this borough unique," he said during his swearing-in ceremony.

"After many years of experience in various communities, I am honored to be elected to serve Merton and all its residents, and look forward to fulfilling my duties as mayor," Szczepański added, reflecting on his new role.
