The amendment extends the legal stay of Ukrainian refugees in Poland until September 30, 2025, according to a statement from the President’s Chancellery on Monday.

The amendment prolongs the period of temporary protection for Ukrainian citizens, which was originally set to expire on June 30, 2024. This extension also ensures continued access to health, family, and social benefits. It also allows refugees to remain in collective housing facilities.

The new legislation stipulates that the granting and payment of child benefits will depend on the child's participation in mandatory preschool preparation, compulsory schooling, or education within the Polish system, state news agency PAP reported.

Moreover, the amendment introduces a maximum 36-month period during which students can receive additional free Polish language classes. This provision applies to students who began their education in the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 academic years.
