The initiative, formalized on Monday with an agreement signed by Professor Bogumiła Kaniewska, the university's rector, and Justyna Janiszewska, the executive director of the Polish-American Fulbright Commission, aims to foster creative and academic exchanges between Poland and the United States.

During their four-and-a-half-month stay, the selected American writer will work on their own creative writing project while teaching several creative writing courses to Polish students, helping them develop their portfolios. The grantee will also engage in the summer school for students, participate in the academic and literary life of Poznań, and join a panel discussion open to the public.

Professor Kaniewska expressed the university's enthusiasm for the program: "We are delighted to have the chance to host outstanding American writers. They will be able not only to pursue their own artistic undertakings but also enter into a dialogue with the Polish university community and city residents."

The program will be administered by the newly established Literature Affirmation Centre at Adam Mickiewicz University and is set to launch in February 2026.

The Polish-American Fulbright Commission is supported by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the US State Department.
