The strict center of Poland's capital will have to be avoided by diesel cars produced before 2005 and gasoline cars produced before 1997. The changes result from regulations coming into force on July 1.
500 PLN fine for unauthorized vehicles in Poland's first Clean Transport Zone
The first Clean Transport Zone in Poland aims to improve air quality and reduce the amount of toxic substances that could impact the health of Warsaw's residents over the next few years. Unauthorized vehicles that do not meet the specified standards entering the designated zone will face a fine of 500 PLN.
Exemptions and enforcement in Warsaw's new automotive regulations
The changes in automotive regulations regarding movement within the capital of Poland will not apply to all vehicles. Exemptions can be granted upon submitting appropriate written applications, including for school buses, vintage vehicles, and cars owned by seniors over 70 years old.
Authorized vehicles will need to display a special sticker on the front windshield. The police and city guard will conduct regular inspections, aided by portable cameras that detect the details of each car entering downtown Warsaw.
