The State Fire Service confirmed via social media that services worked tirelessly throughout the night, responding to a total of 1,045 incidents.

The sudden weather change was triggered by a cloud burst. The highest number of incidents were reported in the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship - 203, Silesian - 149, Łódź - 96, Masovian - 71, and Lublin - 70.

Dangerously, with heavy rain and strong winds, Zakopane area also faced flooding, inundating homes and building basements. Mountain streams quickly swelled.

Water flooded the popular Zakopianka, or National Road No. 47, whose entrances were submerged. The route had to be temporarily closed in both directions, causing kilometers-long traffic jams in the area.

The road is now passable. The rainfall moved northward, but is no longer as intense.

Similar weather conditions were also noted outside Poland. Slovakia, Austria, parts of Germany, and Italy dealt with heavy rains as well.
