The poll, conducted by IBRiS for the "Rzeczpospolita" daily, reveals that shows that 51.7% of those surveyed are in favor of same-sex adoption, while 45.6% oppose it.
The survey, conducted between July 5-7, asked respondents whether a law on civil partnerships should allow same-sex couples to legally become their child's guardians. A majority responded affirmatively.
Among those supporting the idea, 84% are voters of the ruling coalition, which includes the Civic Coalition, the Left, and the Third Way.
On the other hand, 45.6% of respondents are against the proposal. The opposition is primarily composed of right-wing voters, particularly from the Confederation and PiS parties, with 87% expressing disapproval.
This group also includes mainly men (59%), rural residents (59%), larger families with three or more children (57%), and those who get their information from the press (59%) and private, conservative-populist TV Republika (94%).
