The highest number of schools where classes have been canceled on Monday, September 16, is in Lower Silesia (over 210 schools around Kłodzko, Wałbrzych, and Jelenia Góra) and Opole, in southwestern Poland (over 120 schools), particularly in Głuchołazy and the Nysa area.

Classes are also suspended today in 20 schools in Silesia in southern Poland and in 7 schools in Lubusz Voivodeship in the western part of the country.

According to Polish Education Minister Barbara Nowacka on TOK FM, education authorities in four voivodeships have suspended classes in about 420 schools due to flooding or transportation difficulties. Some educational buildings are now serving as shelters for evacuees from flooded areas.

"Education authorities are in constant contact with governors and regional crisis management centers. The safety of children and youth is the top priority today," the Ministry of Education previously stated in an official announcement.

Social media indicate that, because of the flooding, Primary School No. 3 in Kłodzko, southwestern Poland, has been converted into a relief center for evacuees, providing them with sleeping accommodations and hot meals, supported by volunteers, soldiers, and firefighters.

In one of the sports halls in Kłodzko, in southern Poland, field beds have been set up for flood victims.
