The attendance of the Warsaw protest was neither officially given nor independently confirmed. Although some reports suggested that "thousands" took part - the organisers' photos from the event suggest a real number closer to a hundred people present.
"We cannot stand indifferently in the face of genocide in a city like Warsaw, which survived the Warsaw Rising and was reduced to a sea of rubble. This is what Gaza looks like today. Over the past year - 50 children died in Gaza every day on average..."
- Filip Ilkowski, representing the Solidarity with Palestine Coalition, told Polish Radio - also emphasising that the protest is held against the genocide in the Gaza Strip and the invasion of Lebanon alike.
"We feel part of an international movement of solidarity with Palestine. And it is no coincidence that our protest heads towards the US embassy - the main sponsor of Israeli terrorism. But we also direct our protest towards the Polish authorities. We demand the severance of relations with Israel - especially military and intelligence cooperation"
- Filip Ilkowski added, pointing out that a response from governments across the world is necessary to stop the Israeli aggression.
Fayez Afana, a Palestinian living in Poland, participated in the demonstration. His family in the Gaza Strip was displaced from the city of Rafa to the seaside. As he described - they now live in makeshift tents made of clothes, they have no access to hygiene products, face scarcity of drinking water and are given food portions with a limit of just 700 calories per day.
After the rally at Castle Square, the demonstration went through the streets of Warsaw, concluding in front of the US Embassy.
