After a long period of heavy rain in Poland, many mushrooms have emerged. Poles are known as some of the world's biggest mushroom foragers, and autumn excursions to the forest for mushroom picking have become a cherished tradition.
Recently, during a trip in western Poland, Piotr, the author of the popular mushroom blog "Grzybów znawca," discovered a massive specimen of Calvatia gigantea, commonly known as the giant puffball, and shared his find on social media.

Warning against foraging mushrooms in flood-affected areas in Poland
Sanitary and epidemiological services in Poland are warning against foraging mushrooms in flood-affected areas. The water can carry contaminants that mushrooms may absorb, making their consumption potentially harmful to health.
The Chief Sanitary Inspectorate advises against collecting unknown mushrooms and recommends consulting mycologists at local sanitary and epidemiological stations.
Individuals with health issues, including children, should particularly avoid mushrooms, while novice foragers should only gather safer, tube-like mushrooms.
