New COVID-19 vaccines arrive in Poland

The first batch of Moderna vaccines has reached the government’s Strategic Reserves Agency, confirmed Jakub Gołąb, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health.

A new shipment of COVID-19 vaccines has arrived in Poland. Pharmacies and clinics will soon be able to order them.

According to the health market portal rynekzdrowia.pl, pharmacies and clinics in Poland will be able to start ordering the new COVID-19 vaccines beginning next week, on Monday, October 21.

This will allow the first vaccinations with the new doses to commence. Before the vaccines can be delivered to warehouses, they need to be registered and their serial numbers documented.

To receive a free vaccine, an e-referral visible in the Patient Online Account (IKP) will be required.

The Ministry of Health emphasizes that vaccinations should primarily target at-risk groups, starting with seniors, immunocompromised individuals, transplant recipients, and pregnant women.

The next shipment of vaccines, consisting of 700,000 doses, is expected to arrive in Poland by the end of October, bringing the total available doses to over 1.05 million.

It is estimated that around 360,000 Poles have been vaccinated against COVID-19 from the beginning of 2024 until the end of August.
