Housing key for boosting Polish birth rate, survey finds

Easier access to affordable housing, stable employment and a job market supportive of women are seen as key incentives for increasing Poland’s birth rate, according to a survey.

Nearly 31 percent of respondents surveyed by pollster IBRIS identified housing access as the most important factor.

Meanwhile, over 22 percent pointed to stable employment, and 17 percent highlighted the importance of family-friendly labour market policies focusing on women.

Additionally, over 12 percent cited the government's generous Family 800-plus child benefit programme as essential to boosting fertility.

The survey, conducted on October 25 and 26, sampled 1,069 respondents via computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI).
