"We urge medical personnel, as well as parents and guardians of children who have not been vaccinated or completed the full polio vaccination cycle, to ensure that missing vaccinations are given," the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate (GIS) said on Monday.

Dr. Paweł Grzesiowski, Poland's chief public health officer, said that although the discovery is alarming, no cases of the disease have been reported in the country in the past four decades.
