Polish gov't launches disinformation awareness campaign

Poland's digitisation ministry, with support from the state-owned research institute NASK, has launched an effort to raise public awareness about the dangers of disinformation and fake news.

Through engaging dialogues between online trolls depicted in a series of videos, the campaign vividly demonstrates the mechanisms and objectives of disinformation, encouraging citizens to actively limit its spread.

"The goal of disinformation is to divide and polarize society by spreading messages designed to instill fear," NASK expert Iwona Prószyńska told public broadcaster Polish Radio.

“By using real-life cases of disinformation narratives prevalent in Polish cyberspace—such as those surrounding vaccinations—we aim to illustrate just how harmful and socially dangerous these practices can be," she added.
